The Rochester Rattlers will travel to Annapolis, Maryland to play their second to last game of the 2013 season as they battle the Chesapeake Bayhawks for the second time this summer on Saturday, August 3rd at 7:00 PM.
The Rattlers first met the Bayhawks in St. Petersburg, Florida, on April 27th for their first game of the season. Despite a comeback effort, Rochester was outscored 2-0 in the fourth quarter, and fell to Bayhawks 17-14 despite a two goal, two assist performance from midfielder Matt Striebel.

Chesapeake was also in action last Saturday, and hosts Rochester after falling to Denver 14-12. Bayhawks leading scorer Drew Westervelt was not in action in the last meeting against Rochester, but is currently fourth in the league with 29 goals on the season. If the Rattler’s wish to remain in the playoff picture, they need to find a way to contain Westervelt to claim a must-win game.
In the last three games, goalie John Galloway has tallied 11 or more saves in each contest. Galloway currently has 153 saves on the season, and is on pace of beating his 2012 career high of 172. Galloway will look to increase his season save total on Saturday. With his 15th goal of the season against the Lizards last weekend, John Ranagan is currently on a seven game scoring streak. The All-Star rookie will look to extend his scoring streak to eight games against the Bayhawks this weekend. Lawson is also on a scoring streak of his own, scoring at least one goal in his last six games. Lawson will look to stretch his scoring streak to seven games against Chesapeake.
With a win on Saturday, Rochester will improve to a record of 6-7. The Rattlers currently own a 5-7 record, and sit one spot outside the fourth and final playoff, tied at fifth place with Boston. With the playoff push in full swing, Rochester must win this weekend to keep their playoff hopes alive. With a loss and a Charlotte win, the Rattlers will be eliminated from playoff contention.
