John played his high school lacrosse at Georgetown Prep, where he earned a number of accolades, including U.S. Lacrosse All American, and Under Armour All-American. John continued to Notre Dame, and became a First Team All-American, and one of the top goaltenders in the nation. John was selected as the 25th overall pick in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft by Rochester.

 

NOTRE DAME:

2012: Received first team All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) ... earned the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top goalie ... BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year along with earning first team all-league accolades ... ranked first nationally in goals-against average (6.27) and save percentage (.637) ... was 11th nationally in saves per game (11.06) ... made 177 saves ... a Tewaaraton Award nominee ... was 13-3 and played all but seven minutes between the pipes for the Irish ... picked up 38 ground balls ... he and the Irish defense allowed seven or fewer goals in 12 of the team's 16 games ... notched 10 or more saves in 10 of the 16 games ... selected to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team.

2011:Earned honorable mention All-America honors from the USILA ... second team all-BIG EAST ... started all 14 games for the Fighting Irish and posted an 11-3 record ... ranked second nationally in goals-against average (6.60) and fourth in save percentage (.602) ... collected 139 saves.

2010:Played in four games, including two starts, during his rookie campaign ... played 175:25 between the pipes ... totaled 29 saves and allowed 22 goals for a 7.52 goals-against average and a .569 save percentage ... picked up six ground balls ... his first action of the season against Rutgers when he replaced an injured Scott Rodgers ...made his first career start in a 9-8 setback at Villanova.
